Talk About It
We all like to be successful. No matter whether its sports, work, business or something else, we all want to be as successful as possible.
The factors that contribute toward success aren’t secret, they are well known and understood. Here are just 7 that apply to most successful entrepreneurs, sports personalities and celebrities.
1. Do something that you truly love doing. This is obvious really. If you love what you are doing then its not a chore, its a pleasure. The real trick, if there is one, is to identify what ‘floats your boat’ and then keep doing it. For me the goal was to become a freelance web designer but I’ve worked with others for whom internet marketing was their passion.
2. Be patient and disciplined. Most successful people have the ability to see things in a from a long term perspective. And discipline is needed to keep going in the face of adversity and stick to your plan with your long term goals in minde.
3. Define your goals. Whatever it is that you want to achieve, write it down and regularly remind yourself of your goals. Defining this will enable you to plot a course that will lead to your achieving this aim.
4. Feal the fear but dot it anyway. Fear of failure, or something else (e.g. ridicule, expense, pain, embarassment) will often cause procrastination. You need to notice the fear and fight against it. This inclination needs to be overcome.
5. Don’t procrastinate. We will often procrastinate because a task is unpleasant, or lots of work. Breaking things down into smaller, bite sized chunks can help overcome disinclinations.
6. Be Responsible. Remember and remind yourself that success is achievable and you can and will do it. For example, it was ten years ago that I decided that I wanted to become a freelance web designer. At the time I knew a little HTML but that was about all. This led to my achieving my goal and working as a freelance web designer for the past three years.
7. Draft an action plan. The actions in your plan should be clear, specific, measurable and realistic. My own action plan listed all of the skills and experience that I needed to gain in order to go freelance.
Following this advice will not guarantee success, but it will make a significant and positive contribution.
BTW – Search Engine Optimisation is a growing industry that you may want to consider.
